FACT: WITHOUT FREE, LIFE-SAVING DIALYSIS TREATMENT, MOST PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM KIDNEY FAILURE IN PAKISTAN AND AZAD KASHMIR WILL DIE. With dialysis treatment, patients can live full, productive lives for years, even decades.
In Pakistan, the average cost of private-pay dialysis treatment is £3,000 per year, whereas the average annual income is £250. Most of these centres are located in major cities, yet a majority of people live in rural regions. Patients with kidney failure need dialysis treatment 2-3 times a week for the rest of their lives and travelling to these centres is not only time consuming, but cost-prohibitive for most: without access to dialysis treatment, people with kidney failure will die within weeks.
In the last decade, The Noor Foundation UK has opened 19 dialysis centres in remote regions of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, including Mirpur (AK). These centres have reduced the cost of dialysis treatment to approx. £1,200 a year for those who can afford it, and FREE to those who cannot. But funding these life-long treatments is very costly, and is why the Raja Azam AFL Fund was created.

As of December, 2009, we have raised over £25,000 which equates to a year's worth of FREE life-saving dialysis treatment for 24 people. Please remember, dialysis is a life-long treatment and there are over 40 patients at the Mirpur Dialysis Centre – please continue to support this life-saving cause.
